FlightplanPro
FlightplanPro is my second choice. The program is still in a beta status
and gests updates once in a while.
It features real time CFMU validation and automatic
re-planning. It works not in all situations reliable
yet, but the program is very promising. Unfortunately
it does not have an option to export the
flight plan in the needed formats. This means the
workflow is not that smooth, some additional copy /
paste actions are necessary to get FS9 and IVAO compatible flight plans.
FlightplanPro only works for the European airspace.

Once in a while I use vatroute or the IVAO route data base. Both have a large database of flight plans between a large amount of departure and destination airports available.

CFMU
Flight Plan Validation
The flight plan validation system (IFPUV) is a web
based function available publicly via a web site,
provided by Eurocontrol. The tool can be used
for flight plan validation by professionals as well
as flight simulator enthusiasts. A validated
route is not a must for on-line flying, except for
special tours. It is just a nice feature and brings
some additional realism into the hobby.
In order to access the CFMU validation tool, go
to the CFMU Portal, scroll down to IFPUV - Flight
Planning and select either the Structured Editor or
the Free Text Editor.

The FlightplanPro version of the flight plan gets
through the CFMU without error. The FP2FMC flight
plan was not excepted.
